Facetron: Note: We no longer sell this machine.

The Facetron is one of the most popular faceting machines on the market.  The Facetron has become the standard soft stop machine to which all other soft stop machines are compared. The Facetron is also supposed to be able to work as a hard stop machine.  However, the adjustment isn't adequate.  We consider the Facetron to be strictly a soft stop machine.   For more information on hard stop and soft stop machines check out our How-to & Tips section.

The old-version Facetron had a stationary needle and a moving needle (shown in picture to the left) that was lined up to achieve the proper angle and to match up facets.  Now, the Facetron uses a dial indicator, (shown on right) which is much more accurate and easier to use.

A slight change of the cheater wheel moves the quill a lot. Because there are no marks engraved on the cheater dial, it can be a challenge to get it back to the exact same position.

Micro-adjustment of the mast height is accomplished by rotating a knob on the top of the mast.

Although Facetron claims to have a digital angle readout, it operates exactly like the odometer in your automobile. If the operator isn't alert, the angle can easily be set at the wrong angle.  The angle setting in the picture to the left looks like 45.9 degrees, but it's really set at 44.9!
