Some of my faceting students who don't wear glasses purchase cheap drug store glasses and remove the lenses so they can use the Bausch and Lomb Glasses Loupe.

These 10X triplets feature a combination of three high quality lenses providing superior optical performance. The wide 21mm and 20.5mm apertures of these loupes causes less eye strain than smaller aperture loupes. The difference between these Hastings 10X loupes is the color of the plating and 0.5mm in diameter. The achromatic lenses in these loupes are made in Japan and the loupes are assembled in China. Each Hastings 10X loupe comes complete with a carrying case.

Bausch and Lomb makes fine loupes from 7X to 20X. We stock all four powers. These loupes have been a favorite of professionals and serious amateurs for years. Achromatic and aplanatic lenses are used in Bausch and Lomb triplet loupes.

The focal distances for these loupes are:
7X   - 1.5" (39mm)
10X - 1.0" (25mm)
14X - 0.8" (20mm)
20X - 0.5" (13mm)

The wide 20mm diameter provides a bright image. The German designed aplanatic/achromatic lens is astoundingly sharp. The depth of field and edge to edge sharpness is unsurpassed.

A neck strap is easily attached to the loupe for ease of use. Shown to the left.

The Bausch and Lomb Lenscope has a high quality Hastings triplet combined with illumination from two angles (45 and 90 degrees). This allows for excellent observation of gemstones, mineral specimens and other small objects. Bausch and Lomb also offers scales that can be attached to the Lenscope for determining sizes and angles.

The 10X Lenscope has a focal distance of 25mm.

OptiVisors
OptiVisors provide convenient magnification because they are worn on the head and can be easily flipped up and out of the way when not in use. OptiVisors feature high quality glass optics and are available in different magnifications as listed below.

Note: All other inexpensive and moderately priced visor-style magnifiers use inferior plastic lenses. So, even though OptiVisors are a little more expensive than similar looking products, they are far superior in optical quality, don't scratch as easily and are less prone to creating eye strain.

Optional accessories for OptiVisors include the OptiLoupe which can be screwed onto the side of one of the lenses to add and additional 2.5X magnification, and the bright Xenon Laserbeam VisorLight which clips onto OptiVisors to better illuminate and inspect your work piece. The VisorLight requires two AA size batteries.
