The XS3 was the only faceting machine on the market that was all stainless steel. It was made to order by Jon Rolfe, aka Gearloose, who is the inventor of the famous BATT laps. The new Graves Mark V has many of the features of the XS3 head.

The XS3 is precision machined and features a digital angle display. The large digital display make the angle setting easy to read. All electronics are fully sealed. .

The XS3 did not include a base. It was a made-to-order faceting mast and head that was custom fit for the faceting base you wish to use. Therefore, the purchaser had to specify which faceting base will be used with the XS3. The photos below show the XS3 on three popular faceting bases.

The XS3 was available as either a left hand or right hand configuration. Left hand machines have the mast on the left side of the lap and right hand machines have the mast to the right of the lap.

If you wanted to get silly, you could pay a little more and get a 1" mast instead of the 3/4" solid steel mast.

You could even order the color of the digital display!

The XS3 has a ready hook up for a Beale/Wooley meter (analog ohm meter).

A precision micrometer is used for fine mast height adjustments.

The XS3 came with the following features and accessories:

• Right hand or left hand configuration
• 96 Index Gear
  
• Allen wrench and spanner wrench
• Custom base to fit your faceting machine base.
• Digital angle readout to 1/100 degree with a resolution of +/- .03 degree.
• 3/4" solid stainless steel mast (Rockwell C60)
• Custom adapter for using your dops. Different manufacturers use different size dops even if they are listed as 1/4'. Therefore, it is advised that you send in some of your dops, so Jon can custom bore the quill to precisely fit your dops.
